Factory Seconds
This is not really a "second" pipe but it is a prototype. At 14" it is all maple with natural wax finish and will age like ivory. It has a rare LUNA stamp on the bottom of the bowl. SOLD.

In most cases Greek plateaux briar is used and occasionally extra grade ebauchon. One or two sand pits are normal and do not constitute a factory second pipe. Briar bowls with several pits or flaws are sold at a discount. See the photos below.
